1-Day (Adult) and 31-Day (Adult) passes qualify for discounts when purchased at specific quantities as displayed below:

1-Day Pass (Adult) Quantity Discount Rate (minimum 100)

100 or more: 20%

31-Day Pass (Adult) Quantity Discount Rate (minimum 12)

12-50: 10%
51-100: 15%
101 or more: 20%

Check Cashing Policy

You may write a check at the Customer Service Information Booth for the purchase of bus passes only
Your check must be local to the Santa Cruz METRO service area, including counties that are contiguous to Santa Cruz County
You must also present a valid California Driver’s license or legal photo ID when writing a check
There is a $15.00 service charge on all returned checks

METRO Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) WILL BE RETIRED ON December, 20, 2023

Winter Service & Phase 1 Reimagine METRO begin December 21st with FREE FARES from 12/21/23 to 1/4/24.

After 1/4/24 tickets & passes can be purchased with a Credit Card online at scmetro.org or by downloading our METRO Splash Pass app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Located outside all Transit Centers, and designated Pass Vendor Locations, Ticket Vending Machines (TVM's) are public self-serve kiosks:

Purchase disposable METRO Passes
- Discount Passes available for older adults and people with disabilities
- NOTE: You must present Discount Photo ID with a Discount Pass when boarding the bus.
Reload new cash value onto your CRUZ Cash Card, or new pass value onto your CRUZ Pass Card
- Simply tap the Cruz Card (once) on the red circle
- A screen will display the type of pass previously purchased
- Select the pass, make the payment with credit card
- Tap the red circle again (once)
- Take your receipt and you are ready to go

Determine the balance or expiration date on your CRUZ Card

NOTICE: Clipper Cards are NOT honored.
Santa Cruz METRO Local Day Passes (Day, 3-Day, 7-Day, 31-Day)
- Allow unlimited rides on Local Santa Cruz County routes (excluding Amtrak/Highway 17 Express )
Amtrak/Highway 17 Express Service
- Day Passes (Day, 31-Day)
  - Allow unlimited rides on ALL Santa Cruz METRO routes and Local VTA Services
- Highway 17 Express 1-Ride and 15-Ride Pass NOT honored on any VTA Service.
- Amtrak through-tickets to or from Santa Cruz are honored
- VTA Light Rail Transfers are issued by request ONLY with Highway 17 Express Cruz Pass
- UCSC student ID cards and other types of UCSC bus passes are NOT honored on Amtrak/Highway 17 Express Service
- Cabrillo College student ID cards are NOT honored on Amtrak/Highway 17 Express Service
